It is Hollywood’s most unconventional relationship – but it works.

Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr put on a red carpet united front as the top Australian supermodel was honoured at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles.

Perry of course is engaged to and has a daughter with Kerr’s ex, actor Orlando Bloom, with the pair regularly supporting each other in their work.

Kerr and Bloom have a son together, while she has two boys with husband Evan Spiegel.

The former Gunnedah local was recognised at the annual event for excellence in the arts alongside chart topping muso The Kid Laroi and Avatar star Sam Worthington.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the ceremony, which celebrates Australian trailblazers who have enhanced American-Aussie relations.

“I’ve been given so many incredible opportunities since moving to America,” Kerr, 39, told The Daily Telegraph.

“I feel blessed with lifelong friendships, have collaborated professionally with some of the best creatives in the world, and of course met and married my wonderful husband, Evan and started my own family here.”

Kerr has been flying the Aussie flag internationally for more than two decades, having first been discovered in the Dolly Model Competition and going on to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

While still modelling, the majority of Kerr’s time is taken up as the global head of her wellness brand, KORA Organics.

“I’m super proud of my Aussie roots and as they say, you can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl,” she said.

“I’ll never forget my first trip to America, I was 15 and travelled on a Rotary exchange student program to Tazwell, Virginia for a month. I felt like I dropped into a movie set with the classic yellow school buses, cheerleaders, football games and big pick-up trucks.

It’s surreal to think only 6 years later that I would move to NY and become the first Australian Victoria’s Secret Angel.

“I feel very blessed for all of the opportunities that have come my way since moving to the US and establishing my career and family here now.”

As to the best advice she’d ever received in her journey to the top, Kerr said: “If you do something, give it 100 per cent or don’t do it at all. This echoes through my head no matter what I’m doing … the dishes, making the bed, or making a business decision.”

Meanwhile, Elvis director Baz Luhrmann took time out of his Oscars race to deliver an address to the guests, which also included Dumplin’ star Danielle Macdonald and singer Chloe Lattazani.

Delta Goodrem performed a tribute to Lattazani’s mother Olivia Newton-John, who passed away in August 2022, and was a frequent supporter of G’Day USA events.
