Meghan Markle has confirmed that her highly-anticipated new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, has been delayed due to the LA wildfires.
“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” The Duchess of Sussex wrote in a statement.
The series, showcasing Meghan’s cooking skills, was originally due to premiere on the streaming giant on January 15.
It will now air on March 4.
Prince Harry and Meghan, who live in a large home in Montecito, California, with their two children Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, reportedly received an evacuation warning but ultimately found to be able to remain in their house.
The couple have opened their home to friends who were forced to evacuate and are also offering assistance through their charitable organisation Archewell Foundation.
Recently, the royal pair visited the World Kitchen Central Kitchen in Pasedena, where they helped to serve meals and supplies to those in need.
Prince Harry went out of his way to fulfil a Los Angeles fire victim’s unique request during their visit.
The Duke of Sussex, who dressed in disguise in an N-95 mask and baseball hat, approached an elderly bedridden man to ask if he would like a sandwich, water or snack from a food cart.
“The gentleman said, ‘What I’d really like is a donut,’” Mayor Victor Gordo, who was pushing the cart, told the Pasadena Star.
“[Harry] says, ‘There’s no donut here, but I will find one,’” the politician continued. “He takes off, and 10 minutes later, he returns with a donut.
“The gentleman looks up and says, ‘I guess I need my carbs and my sugar.’”
Apparently, the unidentified man didn’t know he was in the presence of a royal, and recalled him telling Harry, “‘If you ever run for anything, I’ll vote for you.’”
Prince Harry and Meghan wrote about the wildfires on their Archewell Foundation website.
“In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighbourhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centres, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” they wrote.
“A state of emergency has been issued. If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas. Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys and clothing and other essentials.”
