IT was one of the best moments of the Golden Globes: Leonardo DiCaprio’s face as Lady Gaga brushed past him on her way up to accept her award.
And now the star has spoken out about the viral moment that took the internet by storm.
Speaking on UK breakfast program This Morning, DiCaprio said despite claims he was throwing shade at Gaga and that she deliberately knocked into him, the pair laughed about it afterwards.
Host Phillip Schofield asked the 41-year-old if his reaction would be “quite so surprised” if Lady Gaga was to brush past him at the Oscars again.
“We were laughing about that afterwards,” he said. “I actually had no idea who was passing me or what was going on, but that was a funny little bit that went around … we were laughing at it at the after-party!
Leo deserves a Golden Globe for this reaction. Better than the bear movie. https://t.co/mORpKiadA0

“It’s amazing what goes viral these days, I guess I’m of a different generation now. I have no idea where this stuff comes from or how it’s even captured!”
DiCaprio had just received a Best Actor Oscar nomination for The Revenant, but was coy when asked if he has a good chance of winning it.
“I do know that it’s completely beyond my control at this point. It’s interesting, because that’s not why you do the work, you know?” he said.
“You do the work because you love making movies and you want to look back and have a filmography that you’re proud of. When you’re on set you have to give everything that you possibly can while you’re there but of course being recognised by your peers and all that other stuff that happens is kind of the cherry on the cake so to speak.
“But all the work from me has been done, I’ve done everything I could possibly do, so it’s all up to you to decide whether it’s worthy of being seen or talked about or awarded.”
The Revenant scored 12 Oscar nominations, the most of any film.
DiCaprio is up against Bryan Cranston (Trumbo), Matt Damon (The Martian), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs) and Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl).
