Australian tennis ace Alex de Minaur and British tennis star Katie Boulter have revealed a big secret — they’re engaged.
After almost five years together the sporting power couple has made it game, set and match in the love stakes with the pair flashing wide smiles and Boulter showing off a diamond ring in a social media post shared on Monday night.
“We’ve been keeping a small secret …” the couple wrote with a shhhh emoji.
De Minaur’s fellow Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis commented “about damn time” while the post was flooded with messages of congratulations.
It’s the perfect way to end the year for de Minaur after the best year of his career when he reached a career-high ranking of six in the world and shared winning the Newcombe Medal.
Speaking in Sydney on Monday ahead of Australia’s United Cup clash against Argentina on Saturday, de Minaur, 25, said he’s “not satisfied” and wants more in 2025 after making the fourth round of the Australian Open followed by quarter-final finishes at the three other grand slams.
Boulter, currently ranked 24 in the world, spoke about how the pair support each other.
The bond they share may be tested when Great Britain and Australia play each other later this month, meaning the lovebirds will have to cheer against each other.
“We do like to throw some banter each other’s way, and I think we handle it that way rather than any other way’’ Boulter said on Monday.
“We know we support each other. It’s such an important start to each other’s years and we’ll always do everything we can for our country.
“At the end of the day, we’re still going to go home and be together and get through it together.
“I don’t think he’s going to be out there cheering for me, but hey, you never know. People do surprise you.
“I’m always supporting him and I support what he does. In that match it’s a very unique situation and something that I’m not used to. We’ll just try to handle it the best we can.
“I’ll be supporting him every single time from the box for the rest of the year.”
