She famously took her campaign for prison reform to the White House. And now, Kim Kardashian says she was warned that working with President Donald Trump would destroy her reputation.

“Trust me, everyone called me and said, ‘Don’t you dare step foot in that White House or your reputation is done,’” Kardashian told David Letterman in an upcoming episode of his Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

“And I said, ‘I have to step foot in there or these people’s lives don’t have a chance,’” Kardashian said, according to Page Six.

It was Kardashian, 40, who famously convinced Trump in 2018 to commute the life prison sentence for Alice Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender.

“Hopefully, for the next multiple administrations, I’ll be working with the White House, helping them with clemencies,’’ Kardashian said.

During the interview – taped in early 2020 but set to air in his new season – Letterman tried to push the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star on what he called Trump’s “unacceptable behaviour by a president.’’

Kardashian, who is married to presidential candidate Kanye West, replied that she was “extremely grateful” to be working with the administration on criminal justice reform.

‘WHAT IS AMERICA’S DESTINY?’

Kanye West made a desperate final attempt to revive his US presidential campaign.

The Jesus Is King rapper shared a bizarre video to Instagram, in which the 43-year-old told voters, “We have to act on faith.”

“What is America’s destiny? What is best for our nation, our people? What is just, true justice? We have to think about all these things together as a people,” West said.

“To contemplate our future. To live up to our dream we must have vision,” he told his 3.9 million followers.

“We as a people we will revive our nation’s commitment to faith, to what our Constitution calls the free exercise of religion, including, of course, prayer. Through prayer faith can be restored.”

“We as a people are called to a greater purpose than ourselves. We are not only a beacon to the world, but we should be servants to each other. To encourage each other. To help each other. To lift up each other – our fellow Americans, that we may all prosper together,” the Birthday Party candidate said.

“We have to act on faith. With assured knowledge that we are pursuing the right goals and doing the right things. We will build a stronger country by building stronger families. Families are the building blocks of society, of a nation. By turning to faith we will be the kind of nation, the kind people, God intends us to be.”

The 90-second-long video ends with the words “2020 Vision” and “Write in Kanye West.”

The father-of-four captioned the video: “Country we stepping out of faith.”

West formally kicked off his 2020 presidential campaign at a rally in Charleston, South Carolina, in July.

During the rally, West wore a bulletproof vest, had ‘2020’ shaved into his head, cried on numerous occasions, talked about the near-abortion of his eldest daughter and challenged the legacy of Black rights activist Harriet Tubman.

“Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slave, she just had the slaves go work for other white people,” West said during the 4th of July event.

In the days and weeks following the rally, West made a series of damning tweets towards his wife, Kim Kardashian West, and his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, alleging the pair were trying to “lock him up” in a mental health facility, and comparing Jenner to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

The tweets lead many to believe he was having another bipolar episode.

Kardashian West later asked fans for compassion and understanding, saying that living with a mental health condition in the public eye was difficult.

“As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” Kardashian West said.

“Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behaviour know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

Despite rumours of the couple’s marriage being on the rocks, the couple spent the last week together at their Wyoming ranch, with Kardashian West sharing a number of family photos to Instagram, including pictures of herself and West looking happy and relaxed.

Longtime fans of the Jesus is King rapper have begun speculating that the video could be promoting an upcoming album or release of new material.
