Inside Socceroos and ex-Adelaide United star Craig Goodwin’s wedding – before his multimillion-dollar move to Saudi Arabia

This Socceroos star postponed his wedding four years ago, but there’s no way he was going to miss saying ‘I do’ a second time around. See all the photos here.

Four years ago, Socceroos star Craig Goodwin was left with no choice but to postpone his wedding after accepting a lucrative overseas deal.

So when the Middle East came calling again last week, Goodwin’s fiancee Katelyn Timmings said staying on for the nuptials was a “non-negotiable” this time around.

“Three days before the wedding we found out,” Timmings, 28, said.

“It was really stressful but we knew we were always having the wedding. That was non-negotiable. It was always going to be in the contract, that he wouldn’t be available until afterwards.”

Former Adelaide United winger Goodwin finally tied the knot with his longtime love in Langhorne Creek on Saturday – and 48 hours later, he was on a plane to Saudi Arabia as part of a multimillion-dollar deal with local club Al-Wahda.

“It’s been a whirlwind, I’m still processing everything but the wedding day was amazing, one of the best days of our lives,” said the beautiful bride, who helped design her stunning dress by Adelaide label GretaKate.

“It was four years in the making and it was better than we could have imagined.”

About 30 of Goodwin’s United teammates and staff were among the 145 guests at Lake Breeze Winery, which was the same venue the couple had booked in 2019.

Wedding stylist Libby Styles helped organise the nuptials, while Out in the Paddock looked after the floral arrangements.

On social media, Goodwin – who previously played at Al-Wahda from 2019-2022 – captioned a series of wedding photos: “The best day of my life, with my new wife”.

He added: “See you soon my loves. The memories made this weekend are what will get us through this time apart.”

Timmings and their two-year-old son Ezra will stay in Adelaide for the next seven weeks before they join Goodwin in Saudi Arabia.

“I’m just going to enjoy this time with Ezra and my family and friends and then go over there, which I look at as a very exciting opportunity,” she said.

“It’s close to Europe, we can do whatever we want and just enjoy some time together. Our friends still live there too, it’s quite familiar.”

Goodwin netted 60 goals in 168 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, and was among the Socceroos’ scorers at last year’s FIFA World Cup.
