British reality TV playboy Joey Essex says he is looking for love in the Aussie ‘jungle’.
Unfortunately though for the 31-year-old, the pool of potential matches is small with former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil the only other single castmate on the new season of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!
“If I find someone single in the camp and fall in love, I’ll be the happiest man on earth,” Essex told Confidential.
Essex is of course best known internationally for appearing on UK reality series, The Only Way Is Essex, as well as the British version of I’m A Celebrity.
He says there is nothing he won’t do on the show and that he will miss his phone the most.
“People think I am stupid,” he said when asked the biggest misconception about him. “I think I will do well. I am very open and honest and people like that.”
Tiredness will be his biggest weakness while his “confidence and strength” will get him through.
“I am winging it,” he said, noting that Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner are the two celebrities he’s hoping to meet on the show: “They are both my type.”
Essex joins the show as an intruder after the first 10 castmates were unveiled on Monday.
They include country singer Brooke McClymont, Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm, comedian Cal Wilson, AFL great Nathan Buckley and celebrity chef Poh Ling Yeow.
Also in the jungle are retired AFL player Derek Kickett and Gold Coast event co-ordinator David Subritzky, who is moonlighting as a world renowned fashion designer.
Further intruders are expected to be announced through the season.
