‘I can’t possibly let it be over just yet’: Kylie to bring Tension tour to Australia in 2025

Pop superstar Kylie Minogue is coming home for her first Australian tour since 2019 and says she “can’t wait to share beautiful and wild moments with fans”.

Melbourne’s pop superstar Kylie Minogue is finally coming home to perform her first arena shows in five years.

The Padam Padam princess will play at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on February 20 and 21, as well as shows in Sydney, Brisbane, ­Adelaide and Perth, to support her new album Tension II.

“I am beyond excited to announce the Tension Tour 2025,” Minogue said.

“I can’t wait to share beautiful and wild moments with fans … celebrating the Tension era and more.

“It’s been an exhilarating ride so far and now, get ready for your close up because I will be calling ‘Lights, camera, action, and there will be a whole lot of Padam-ing.”

The tour, which travels to Asia following the Australian dates, has been a long time coming, due mainly to Minogue’s career renaissance in the US.

Padam Padam, released last year, spent three weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s dance-electronic digital song sales chart. A sold-out residency in Las Vegas ­followed.

Presale tickets for Minogue’s tour go on sale to Telstra members on Tuesday, then Frontier members on Thursday, with general tickets available from October 2.

Tension II, featuring 13 songs, including collaborations with The Blessed Madonna, Bebe Rexha, Tove Lo, Orville Peck, Diplo and Sia, is released on October 18.

It is the follow up to Tension, which carried the global megahit Padam Padam.

“The Tension era has been so special to me,” Minogue said.

“I can’t possibly let it be over just yet.”

Minogue last toured Australia in 2019.

The songstress paid $8m for a home in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs in 2021, vowing to spend more time in Australia.

But her career reboot in the US has meant Minogue’s immediate focus has been in America.

Meanwhile, the Victoria Racing Club has announced an impressive parade of international performers set to sing at Flemington’s entertainment hub, The Park, during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Powerhouse American vocalist Anastacia, known for her hits I’m Outta Love and Left Outside Alone, will perform on Derby Day.

Empire Of The Sun, the Australian duo with chart-toppers including Walking On A Dream and We Are The People, will play a DJ set on Cup Day.

British star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, whose 2001 anthem Murder On The Dancefloor got a second life after being used in a hit movie, will also perform on Cup Day.

Former boy band singer and reality show judge Ronan Keating headlines Oaks Day, and Australian acts Temper Trap and Mia Wray will wind up the week on Stakes Day.

VRC chief Kylie Rogers said: “The Melbourne Cup Carnival is a uniquely Australian celebration of sport, fashion, food, culture and entertainment.”
