Check out our gallery below for all the best and worst fashion spotted on this year’s red carpet.
There were some frocks that were strapless, some that were backless, some that showed a hint of stomach but the best dresses of the Golden Globes red carpet featured revealing deep necklines.
Olivia Wilde rocked the sexy V-neck in a custom Michael Kors sequined oxblood halter gown. Matched with maroon eye-shadow, the dress was an instant hit on social media. Maggie Gyllenhaal rocked the sexy trend in Marc Jacobs.
Blindspot actress Jamie Alexander nailed the look in a emerald green and black gown featuring a geometric pattern and billowing A-line skirt.
Katy Perry sent social media into overdrive with her ‘bump-up’ hairstyle.
And a big shout out to Jennifer Lopez, who showed everyone how it’s done in her mustard gown from Giambattista Valli. It was sharply capped at the shoulders and sported a high side slit and a long wide train. Why? “I just really like it,” she explained.
As for the style misses, we’re not sure why Patricia Arquette chose to wear a giant white bow on her plunging black gown, and the reflective features of Regina King’s gleaming dress hurt our eyes. But we’ve got to give major kudos to the stars, who largely rocked up with on-point style.
Among the stars showing a touch of stomach were Jennifer Lawrence in bright red Dior and Kate Hudson who flaunted some serious skin in a nude Michael Kors gown.
Brie Larson, who was nominated in the lead actress in a drama category for her role in Room, also opted for a gold sequinned gown with cut out panels.
“It’s Calvin Klein and they made it for me. It’s heavy but in a great way, it’s like I’m in a hug constantly, I don’t feel so vulnerable. I feel very protected, like I have Joan of Arc armour on,” Larson told red carpet host Ryan Seacrest.
Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke went for a more sombre lacy black number.
Australia’s Cate Blanchett opted for a 1920’s inspired pale pink fringed Givency gown. Blanchett is nomiated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in the film Carol.
Alicia Vikander, who is a double nominee for best supporting actress in a film for Ex Machina and best lead actress in a movie drama for The Danish Girl, triggered a flurry of flashbulbs in a white sequinned Louis Vuitton gown with ruffle details while Mad Max: Fury Road star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley opted for a gold beaded gown.
Meanwhile actor Bryan Cryanston and comedy queen Amy Schumer left us wanting more.

Steve Jobs actor Michael Fassbender revealed he had a speech tucked away in his tuxedo pocket just in case he won the Globe for best lead actor in a dramatic movie.
“I do plan ahead now, I’ve tended to wing it in the past and that never works out so I’ve come prepared,” he told NBC.
Uzo Abuba, who is nominated for best supporting TV actress in for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren in Netflix drama Orange Is The New Black said she felt overwhelmed by the occasion.
She told Seacrest: “I feel like if my head wasn’t connected to my body it would be rolling on the floor.” She added that the Globes is a particularly fun awards show, saying: “You get to talk with your friends, hang out with your friends, chill, relax and have some champagne.”
Without a runaway favourite for this year’s top Academy Award, a handful of key contenders will be looking to Sunday night’s Globes for a little traction on the road to the Oscars.
The glittering gala in Beverly Hills is seen as a good indicator of the films and actors that will vie for Oscars glory on February 28 — and is second only to the Academy Awards in terms of Tinseltown buzz.
Golden Globes host and Ricky Gervais revealed on the red carpet he has been banned from repeating at least 20 of the jokes he told during the rehearsal.
“I’m heavily sedated under doctors orders,” the outspoken comedian told E news upon arrival.
“I don’t know when I can ever use those jokes. I just did it for the crowd.”
Gervais, wearing dark sunglasses, laughed continually throughout his interview prompting questions of whether the presenter had consumed any alcohol or drugs.
Asked by Ryan Seacrest what he had been taking before the show, Gervais replied: “Just a little bit of ummm.”
As stars streamed into the venue, the limousines, sport-utility vehicles, sedans and ride-sharing services created a Golden Globes traffic jam.
Alan Cumming, Patrick Stewart, Michael Shannon, Bernadette Peters and the cast of Amazon’s “Transparent” were among the first celebs to arrive on a red-carpet-covered driveway Sunday afternoon.
Sam Smith was greeted by screams when he opened his passenger-side door directly in front of a bleacher populated with fans.
While most stars made a beeline to the camera crews and photographers waiting outside the Beverly Hilton, Jamie Lee Curtis stopped to wave and blow kisses to the excited crowd.
“Thank you!” she screamed.
