Heather Croall will be among the first to try out a new Adelaide Fringe show in which audiences can tie the knot or attend a wedding in a blow-up church.
The Fringe boss and her longtime partner Nick Phillips will exchange vows inside the venue, located in Light Square, on Valentine’s Day as part of the interactive, theatrical experience called The Inflatable Church.
The show will see up to 12 couples each day say ‘I Do’ (or renew their vows) in front of up to 100 guests, with over 300 dresses, grooms attire and accessories available with each $10 ticket.
And no two nuptials – which aren’t legally binding – are ever the same with a UK-based “Love Army” of crazy vicars, bridesmaids, the Mother-In-Law, make-up artists and more, on hand to liven up the ceremonies.
The groundbreaking theatre show, which has conducted more than 5000 happy weddings across Europe over the past two decades, also features other activities including yoga with a Vicar, Spandex workouts with bridesmaids and a dance party.
The show’s director Tristram Shackerley-Bennett said he was “thrilled” to introduce the church to Adelaide audiences.
“This show represents a fusion of art, innovation, and immersive storytelling and we believe it will leave a lasting impression on all who experience it,” he said of The Inflatable Church, which is supported by Adelaide City Council.
