Packed to the Rafters star Erik Thomson and wife Caitlin McDougall are believed to have split after almost 25 years of marriage.
The couple previously lived together in Port Willunga, on the Fleurieu Peninsula, but Thomson is understood to have moved to Tasmania last year.
They no longer follow each other on social media and they haven’t posted photos of each other on their accounts for more than two years.
Thomson, 57, met McDougall, an actress and artist, in a pub on AFL Grand Final day in 1997. Two years later, they tied the knot at Penny’s Hill, the McLaren Vale winery founded by McDougall’s stepfather, Tony Parkinson.
The couple are parents to two teenage children.
Born in Scotland, Thomson is best known for his role as Dave Rafter in the beloved Seven series co-starring Rebecca Gibney and Adelaide’s Hugh Sheridan.
He’s also featured on popular TV shows including All Saints, 800 Words and Aftertaste, and co-starred alongside his then-wife McDougall in Nine Network drama, The Alice, in 2005 and 2006.
The couple were originally based in Sydney, and would spend time with McDougall’s family on the Fleurieu Peninsula while Thomson was in between acting roles. She was born in Melbourne but grew up in South Australia.
They eventually made a permanent move to Port Willunga soon after Packed To The Rafters finished up in 2013.
“We have family here, it’s beautiful, it’s affordable, it’s a really good base,” Thomson told The Advertiser in 2016.
McDougall is understood to still be living in Port Willunga, and works as an artist out of her own coastal studio.
The Advertiser has reached out to Thomson and McDougall for comment.
