SEN SA’s drivetime duo Kym Dillon and Michelangelo Rucci promise they won’t hold back when they lock horns on their new show, Kymbo & The Rooch.
The veteran pair has revealed they are joining Kane Cornes on the new AM 24/7 sports radio station, which will begin broadcasting on December 6.
“When we go on-air, it’s real, it’s not fabricated. At times it’s been a bit frosty. We have genuine differences when it comes to football … so we’ve had some good barneys,” says Kym, who most recently shared the airwaves with Michelangelo on the FIVEaa Saturday morning sports show. “But like a footy game, you go to war on the field and once the final siren sounds, you get on with life.” The Advertiser’s Sports Editor At Large, Michelangelo says he’s excited about his “new assignment” after 22 years at FIVEaa.
“Being part of a new adventure — with Australia’s fastest-growing sports media network — is just perfect after such a long and memorable time with FIVEaa,” he says.
“Moving across with old teammate — and a great mate — Kym Dillon is perfect … even if we won’t always be on the same path in our views.”
Confidential hears Kym turned down the role opposite Port Adelaide champion Kane on the new SEN SA brekkie show, in favour of the drivetime slot. Kane’s co-host is still to be announced, with Adam Cooney and Bernie Vince among those rumoured to be in the mix.
As for Kane’s claim the state’s footy media coverage is “far too heavily weighted” in favour of the Crows, Kym says that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Kane’s got to get rid of the chip on his shoulder. I think he,Warren Tredreaand Michelangelo have been waving the flag for Port for many years now,” says Kym, who previously co-hosted Mix 102.3 and Triple M brekkie shows. Kymbo & The Rooch, which kicks off in February, is part of more than five hours a day of SA-produced content, with interstate shows from Gerard Whateley and Andy Maher also in the line-up.
