Flea is grieving the tragic death of Australian film icon, David Dalaithngu, who passed away on November 29 after a battle with lung cancer.

“ … His film performances are a part of who I am, they’ve had a profound effect, opening me up to the mystical, the invisible world. What an awesome dude,” he wrote in a tribute on Instagram.

Flea, along with singer Anthony Kiedis, is a founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which was formed in 1983 and is considered one of the highest-selling bands in the world – with more than 100 million records sold.

They are the most successful group in the history of alternative rock.

Their last album The Getaway was released in 2016.

They are set to go on a global tour with bandmate Chad Smith next year, which will mark their first with the return of guitarist John Frusciante.

The tour kicks off on June 4 in Seville, Spain.
