Rebecca Morse and Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello favourites to fill newly-vacant hit107 brekkie radio slot
HIT107 brekkie co-host Amos Gill has decided to quit the radio station while his sidekicks have been dumped — and two very familiar faces from TV are tipped to step in.
TV personalities Rebecca Morse and Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello are the hot favourites to fill the newly-vacant hit107 brekkie radio slot.
With current hit107 co-host, comedian Amos Gill, deciding to leave radio to pursue a stand-up career in the US, remaining duo Cat Lynch and Angus O’Loughlin have been dumped in favour of a new-look program targeting a “broader audience”.
Long-time Ten newsreader Rebecca, 40 and South Aussie with Cosi star Andrew, 39, would fit the bill, with many years of experience on SA television and radio, plus both have strong social media followings.
The last radio ratings survey showed hit107’s brekkie show lagging well behind Mix 102.3, Triple M and Nova.
Southern Cross Austereo’s SA GM James Pedersen says it’s the right time to “make a change”.
“Ultimately, the show hasn’t connected with the audience the way we had hoped so a fresh line up now makes sense,” he tells Confidential.
James says a decision on replacements has yet to be made, but the station will focus on local hosts.
“The key is to get it 100 per cent right and we won’t rush into a decision,” he says.
Rebecca has declined to comment, while former SAFM and Biggest Loser star Cosi didn’t return calls from Confidential.
Amos says he’s excited to be chasing his stand-up dream after signing with a US management company.
“It’s a big part of my life, but I’ve always wanted to live in the US and do stand up,” he says. Angus says he’ll be staying with the Hit network interstate, while Cat will be taking an extended holiday in South America after their final show on September 21.
