INSPIRED by the City of Light, local designers will shine at the inaugural Adelaide French Festival which begins today.
Among them is Cristina Tridente, whose latest collection, Les Fleurs, was inspired by Paris in the springtime.
Eight garments from the 12- piece collection will be on show at Sunday’s Couture Collection in the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Banquet Room.
Among them is the cornflower blue gown worn by Julia from Finesse Models Australia, with make-up by Leah Metaxas and hair by Janelle Zara.
“It took 100 hours to make - all the lace was embroidered by hand,” Ms Tridente said.
The salon-style parade will also showcase Adelaide fashion houses GretaKate, Eliza French, Varacalli, Calèche, Sylvy Earl and Jaimie Sortino.
Couture Collection is one of several events for fashion lovers in the festival’s program. Tonight’s So Frenchy So Chic at Pinky Flat will have a Kérastase Braid Bar and Lancôme Parisienne Lip Suite, while Adelaide-born perfumer Samantha Taylor will be hosting a fragrance-making class at the Artspace tomorrow.
Paolo Sebastian designer Paul Vasileff, the first South Australian to show in Paris, will also feature. An exhibition P aolo Sebastian: A Journey to Paris will be on display in the Dunstan Playhouse foyer.
