Days after a topless video went viral on social media, Married At First Sight’s Natasha Spencer says she’s struggling with anxiety due to vicious trolling.
The financial analyst told Confidential that the leaked video has taken a toll on her mental health and she feels violated because it was released without her permission. She has since referred the matter to NSW police.
“No one should ever share private content like this without someone’s consent, be it a woman or a man in the video. I feel totally violated. I have reported the distribution of this video to NSW Police.
“I’ve really been struggling this last week, given the degree of online abuse I’ve received as a result of this video. I feel awful for any woman or man who has gone through this. The internet is a cruel place and I’m still shocked by how nasty people can be. People forget that there is someone behind the Instagram account that they are attacking”, she commented.
Spencer, 26, who is partnered with Mikey Pembroke on the controversial reality show, blamed sexism for the harsh response to the footage which shows her lying on a bed topless with a male companion kissing her chest.
“Sadly we live in a world where despite massive strides for women over the years, we continue to be shamed for expressing any aspect of our sexuality. I am so hurt by the sharing of this video, but even more so, I’m hurt by the public’s harsh judgments of this video and me personally,” she said.

“I have reached out to the show’s psychologist for support. As anyone can imagine, I’m feeling a lot of anxiety about the entire incident. I’m not ashamed to admit this, as I think mental health is such an important topic of conversation that we need to be more open about. “People are so quick to inflict mental harm online, especially to those who have chosen to go on reality TV. Please consider what you post online and the impact that can have on someone’s mental health before you comment.”
Meanwhile another bride, Poppy Jennings, revealed she’s also struggling after being trolled due to her portrayal on the show.
On Monday night’s episode, the single mum from Wollongong brutally dumped her partner Luke Eglin which left him in tears but she insists there’s more to the story.
“I’m obviously being hammered by media and trolls right now. I haven’t watched the show, I refuse to,” Jennings wrote in a lengthy Facebook post after the episode.
“I understand people are reacting to what they see on TV but but they see 1% of what actually goes on in the show. A commitment ceremony for example goes for 15 hours, you see one hour. Our honeymoon was 4 days, they showed 6 minutes!
“ … He was fake on camera and a complete d**k head behind the scenes! It was infuriating!!!
I was there, I was uncomfortable with all the things about this person I was matched with that didn’t add up! But I was told ‘Poppy on camera and off camera don’t exist to the public’
I was so scared I was saying sh*t like ‘this could work’ because they told me Australia was going to f**king hate me.”
