Hollywood icon John Travolta says Adelaide has captured his heart during visit for Supanova Comic Con & Gaming expo

Fans packed into the Jubilee pavilion today to hear Hollywood legend John Travolta speak. It sounds like they left quite an impression.

What it's like to be John Travolta

Hollywood icon John Travolta said Adelaide captured his heart during a three-day visit for the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming expo over the weekend.

The Grease superstar was overwhelmed and “deeply touched” by the support of his SA fans as he spoke at a packed Q&A session at the Adelaide Showground this afternoon.

“I’d like to take you all home with me. You’ve all been so kind to me," he said.

“You’ve absolutely taken my heart today.”

The legendary actor, whose films have grossed more than $5 billion, was the star attraction at the annual pop culture convention, which drew about 15,000 people over two days.

This afternoon, 500 devotees filled a hall in the Jubilee Pavillion to hear Travolta, 65, talk about his four-decade career in the entertainment history.

“Life is humbling. How long can you stay at altitude without life inviting you to land?” said a modest Travolta, a qualified pilot who flew his private jet to Adelaide on Friday morning.

“I think the more famous I got, the more real I got about life for some reason.

“I realised from a very young age you can’t stand at the top of a mountain and think it’s real all the time. I always felt very fortunate that I’ve had the opportunities I’ve had.”

Most fans just wanted to hear about his most famous role in hit 1978 musical Grease, alongside Australian star Olivia Newton-John.

“There’s only one person in the world who I could have imagined playing Sandy (in Grease) and that’s Olivia,” he said.

“It was every young man’s dream to have this woman as their girlfriend.”

Travolta also revealed his favourite song from Grease was You’re The One That I Want, and his favourite line was: “Don’t make me laugh, ha ha ha”.

Summer Nights was a fun song as well... I was very young back then, my voice was much higher,” he said.

Travolta enjoyed a couple of quiet days in Adelaide ahead of two speaking engagements in Sydney and Melbourne this week.

He said his two children with wife Kelly Preston would be coming to spend time with him in Australia later this month.

“I’m going to have them visit me here and we’ll have some fun,” he said.
