Model Fiona Falkiner will tie the knot in a “low-key” wedding with her fiancée sports reporter Hayley Willis later this year.
The couple, who got engaged in April 2019, told Confidential they are excited to exchange vows after months of planning.
“I can’t wait to wake up and be married. It’s all fine planning it but I think we’re ready to be done with the plans and get it done,” Willis said at the launch of super venue ESTATE in Coogee.
Falkiner, 37, said, “It will be a very low-key wedding. We’re very much looking forward to it. We’re going interstate because my family’s Perth and her family’s Victoria and people are going to have to travel. It’s towards the end of the year.”
The couple met on Instagram in 2018, after Willis, 30, sent a private message asking the former Biggest Lost star out on a date.
They got engaged eight months later after Willis popped the question with a large white gold diamond ring on a holiday in Vanuatu.
“I asked, and you said yes,” Willis wrote on social media at the time.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you Fee. To everyone who made this incredibly perfect moment possible — Our friends @the_moso_life for helping me plan it, our chef turned videographer Clifford who captured it perfectly, and to the locals who set off fireworks as we came back to the resort! Thank you all so much, I am forever grateful xxx.”
The smitten pair bought their first house together in Sydney a few months later.
“We’re really happy. It’s just nice to be engaged and we just bought a home and we’ve been nesting in there which is amazing. Decorating and just creating a home,” Falkiner said.
The TV presenter previously said she used to think she would never make it down the aisle.
“Thinking back on it, I’ve realised I could never get the emotional connection with men. And I’ve tried to date all kinds of men, from all kinds of backgrounds,” she told Stellar.
“Most relationships didn’t last past four months and they never got to see the real me. Now for the first time, with Hayley, I feel like I’ve been accepted — just for me. And loved — just for me. I didn’t even know that this kind of connection could exist.”
