There’s going to be a smorgasbord of entertainment as Adelaide’s Feast Festival kicks off with a Carnival Party tomorrow night.
Festival ambassador, YouTube sensation Christian Hull, will play ringmaster for the circus-themed opening night event, which will take over the Migration Museum from 7pm on Saturday.
“It’s going to be a smorgasboard of what Feast is... there will be singers, performers, drag kings and queens,” Hull said.
“It’s just a big party.”
Now in its 23rd year, the annual Queer Arts and Cultural festival will continue until November 24 with a wide array of drag and revue acts as part of a month which has been coined “Pridevember”.
“This is such an important festival for the queer community. It’s so massive in Australia, said Hull, who has almost one million followers across his social media platforms.
“The community has come so far in recent years but it’s important to celebrate and showcase our amazing talent and the arts in general.
Hull, who previously worked in Adelaide as a commercial radio producer, said “Pridevember” - a term used by festival founder Margie Fischer to describe the month-long program of events - was about “everyone coming together”.
“It’s really about fighting for the cause, celebrating our community, young and old, indigenous, and championing them, and putting them into the spotlight,” he said.
“We have some incredible artists here... and this is a great event where we can put these guys in the spotlight and say, ‘You’re not alone”. You can be your creative self.
“It’s really beautiful.”
