FIVEaa’s all-conquering duo David Penberthy and Will Goodings have recorded their highest ever result in the latest Adelaide radio ratings survey, further extending their lead in the critical breakfast timeslot.

Their audience share of 15.6 is the biggest since The Advertiser and Sunday Mail columnist David and his co-host Will took over FIVEaa’s breakfast show in October 2015, and has them 2.4 points clear of their closest rival — who are on the FM band, Mix 102.3’s Jodie Oddy and Mark Soderstrom at 13.2.

At the start of 2016 soon after David and Will took over the slot they were a massive 7 points behind market leader 891 ABC Adelaide’s Matt Abraham and David Bevan who dominated on 18.9, the biggest share in the last years.

Their current ABC local radio opposition at breakfast, Ali Clarke bounced back from the last survey with a gain of 0.9, taking her to third place on 12.8 right behind Mix, with Triple M’s Ro o & Ditts steady in fourth spot on 10.9.

At the other end of the spectrum, new hit107 brekkie duo Rebecca Morse and Andrew Cosi Costello will have a mountain to climb when they take over the reins early next year.

In this survey, Hit107’s dumped brekkie trio Amos Gill, Cat Lynch and Angus O’Loughlin suffered the worst fall in the timeslot, slipping 1.3 points to 6.2 and into a woeful seventh place behind Cruise1323 on 7.7.

Amos, Cat and Angus finished up on September 21, with longtime Ten newsreader Rebecca and South Aussie with Cosi host Andrew’s first show set for January 21.

Nova’s brekkie team of Dylan Lewis, Shane Lowe and Hayley Pearson also dropped 1.1 to 8.2 points just ahead of Cruise, continuing to fuel speculation Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald will make a return to Adelaide next year.

While Fitzy is understood to have denied the rumours, there’s strong talk the former Crows forward and now Nova brekkie host in Sydney is looking to return home with his young family.

Stay tuned.
