Brownlow medal preparations are almost complete for Adelaide’s Britt Kennedy.
The longtime girlfriend of Crows midfielder Brad Crouch will make her Brownlow red carpet debut at the glamorous event in Melbourne tonight, and Ms Kennedy admitted it’s been a nervous build-up.
“I’ve been a bit stressed, trying to fit everything in around full-time work but now I’m feeling excited that it’s all coming together,” says the occupational therapist, who met Crouch about four years ago at the Grange Jetty Cafe where she was working at the time.
“It’s very out of my comfort zone for me but it’s a fun night and it’s a good way for the girls to get involved.”
For the AFL’s night of nights, Ms Kennedy, 24, will wear a gown by Adelaide fashion house Caleche Couture with jewellery by local designer Cassandra Mamone.
“I approached Caleche and I was open to anything,” she said at her final fitting last week. “When I saw this particular material, I thought that’s for me, I wanted something with a bit of sparkle.
“I definitely wanted to support SA designers and it’s really nice, I’ve also got some SA girls coming over to do hair and makeup as well.”
Ms Kennedy will be joined at the event by Crouch’s brother Matt and his partner Ellie Symons, Eddie Betts and wife Anna, Rory Laird and girlfriend Lucy McArthur and Brodie Smith and his partner Issy.
“I’m most looking forward to catching up with the girls and having a champagne after we’ve gotten ready and the hype around it,” Ms Kennedy said.
Port Adelaide’s Brownlow contingent tonight will include first-year player Connor Rozee, who will attend with girlfriend Sophie Barbour, Darcy Bryne-Jones and partner Alice McKeough, co-captains Tom Jonas and Ollie Wines, and former captain Travis Boak.
