Corbin Harris Q&A: Skateboarder and TV broadcaster declares ‘Sydney has the best of everything’
CORBIN Harris could be hosting an event as a sports broadcaster, designing a new range of clothes, fulfilling ambassador commitments, selling shows or skateboarding with some mates.
MY daily routine consists of … not having a routine. For 20 years life changes every single day depending on what job I am doing. I could be hosting an event as a sports broadcaster, designing a new range of clothes, fulfilling ambassador commitments, selling shows or skateboarding with some mates.
If I can’t skate, I ... would be a political journalist, F1 driver, work in sports management or in property.
The hardest working item in my wardrobe is … two items — my Ksubi denim jeans and my RVCA hoodie, both from General Pants Co. I skate and work in denim most days and my hoodie is a carry-on must for the long hauls.
The wardrobe I wish I could raid belongs to … Pharrell Williams. He is a true style icon. It doesn’t matter if he’s wearing tracksuit pants or a tuxedo, he kills it.
Three items every man should own are ... A tailored suit, fresh underwear and responsibility.
My jet lag cure is … an amazing coffee and breakfast from one of my spots in Sydney such as HAM in Cronulla or Jackie’s in Paddington, quickly followed by a surf. Ocean is the only thing that cures me from jet lag. Also loads of water!!
I’ve never told my mother about the time I … Hahahahaha, not much at all. She’s a boss.
My gym / exercise routine consists of … something different most times, depending on what city I am in. If it’s Australia I am outdoors with beach runs, swims and a lot of core workouts. If I have access to a gym it’s most likely the Red Bull high-performance gym in Santa Monica doing specific exercises or rehab on an injury I’ve sustained.
My preferred party trick is … Changing into as many outfits in the smallest time possible. And smiling.
I do coffee over tea because … I need one or two to start the day. Then green tea in the afternoon.
My favourite Sydney spot is ... a mixture of all great things in Sydney. Being down at Cronulla beach in the morning, eating seafood on the Harbour, popping into Icebergs RSL for a beer, then ending up at Golden Century in Chinatown for dinner and shenanigans. Sydney has the best of everything in the world.
I’m a regular at ... Coogee Pavilion, Fred’s, Bar Machiavelli, Charcoal Charlie’s, Porch and Parlour, Earth Food Store on Gould Street, Hubert and anywhere by Neil Perry! All these places have good food and produce with excellent service. I want to feel comfortable and looked after when I’m town.
I’m binge watching ... The Crown on Netflix because who doesn’t like watching the royals?
I’d cast … Edward Norton to play me in a movie about my life because … I believe he could understand all of the positions and jobs I’ve had to lead in my life.
I’m Instagram stalking ... @kook_of_the_day and @kookslams because ... they’re the funniest Instagrams ever made!
My favourite app is ... Wall Street Journal.
I’m listening to ... Blank Face by ScHoolboy Q because I love rap.
My five, real or fictional, dream dinner party guests are ... Dylan Rieder, Joe Biden, Blake Sheldon, Susan Wojcicki and Franca Sozzani.
If I hadn’t made it in sport I would have been … in the television or fashion industry.
If my life had a hashtag, it would be ... #MAKEITHAPPENcausenobodyelsewill
