A Day in the Life of a Fringe artist.

COMEDIAN Fiona O’Loughlin has no doubts she’s having the “best year of her life”.

After taking out Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! in March, the SA-born funnywoman became a grandmother for the first time when daughter Tess gave birth to baby girl Una Mary Dunne in September.

“It’s insane, this baby is so easy, it’s hilarious. I thought my kids were placid when they were born, but Una is next level,” O’Loughlin, 55, said.

“I haven’t even heard her cry yet. I’m just so lucky.”

She added jokingly: “Sometimes I like to sneak off with her and pretend she’s mine.”

But O’Loughlin, a mother of five, admitted she’s enjoying the reduced responsibility of grandmotherhood.

“I like that I don’t have to know where her birth certificate is, I don’t know when she’s due for immunisation... I was so bad at all that organisational stuff,” she laughed.

Born in the small Yorke Peninsula town of Warooka, O’Loughlin is returning to SA for two special shows next month. Fiona O’Loughlin and Friends at the Regal Theatre on November 9 and 10 will also feature Melbourne comedians Chris Wainhouse, Katie Burch and Ethel Chop. It’s the first time she’s produced her own comedy show.

“Life’s just been incredible since the jungle. I don’t have to stress over ticket sales, people are actually coming. It’s so great,” said O’Loughlin, who’s also coming back for next year’s Adelaide Fringe.

“Who’d have thought a 55-year old would be having the best year of her life, but I am.”
