Right on time, Jesinta and Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin have welcomed the arrival of healthy baby girl, Tullulah.

It is the first child for the model mum and Sydney Swans AFL star Franklin.

“Jesinta and Lance are thrilled to announce the arrival of their beautiful baby daughter, Tullulah Franklin,” a spokeswoman for the couple said.

“They are both absolutely besotted with her.”

Baby Tullulah was born on Sunday.

Last month, the 28-year-old then mum-to-be said she would have the baby within four weeks but wouldn’t divulge the due date to ensure privacy for the birth.

“I am very ready. It has been a long hot summer, let’s put it that way,” she said. “I feel really good and I’ve been really blessed to have a healthy pregnancy. Really the only plan the whole way through has been just to deliver a healthy happy baby in the safest way possible,” she said of her birthing plans.

“We don’t want to have too many plans because as everyone knows, you can plan the most natural water birth and end up having an emergency C-section. It is one of those things you can’t plan exactly.”

Franklin announced the pregnancy in August but the couple kept the gender of their child a secret until now.

In December, ahead of Australia Day on January 26, Franklin spoke of the “very real issue” of racism.

She said she has “white privilege” and wants to educate the couple’s child about its indigenous heritage.

“Because of my white privilege, I didn’t realise how prominent racism still is,” she told marie claire magazine. “I know I’m going to have these discussions with my child and explain the dark parts of history, but we also want to celebrate the beautiful indigenous culture and stories. We want our child to feel included, recognised, heard and worthy, which is why Constitutional recognition is so important to us.”
