Nollsey comes second again

It’s going to be an extra special festive season for beloved Australian singer Shannon Noll.

Not only is the rocker set to perform at next month’s Torrens Transit Carols by Candlelight in Adelaide, it’s also the first Christmas for his baby son Colton.

“Christmas has always been a special time in my family, I’m really looking forward it. Colton’s still really young so he won’t remember it or work out what’s going on but I’m so excited for him,” said Noll, who welcomed his fourth child on December 30 last year.

The former Australian Idol runner-up and his wife Rochelle already have Cody, 18, Blake, 17, and Sienna, 13.

“I genuinely feel like a grandparent this time around. When you’re younger you’re so focused on providing for your family... you don’t realise how awesome (parenthood) is.

“So like a grandparent, this time around I’m really savouring it. It’s such an amazing surprise to be changing nappies again.”

The former I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! star is the first to admit he’s got a chequered history in SA – highlighted by his 2017 Hindley St arrest for assault – but Noll said he only remembers the good times in Adelaide, including a gig in front of 50,000 fans at the old Clipsal 500 motorsport event in 2008.

“It’s funny, a lot of people like to think of the negatives but I’ve so many more positive memories of Adelaide that far outweight any negative, stupid stuff,” said Noll, who had all charges from that 2017 incident dropped.

After some low notes, Noll’s career is hitting a high with his new album, Unbroken, released earlier this year while he also has a new single, Long Live The Summer, out next week.

“It’s all about having fun an enjoying summer,” he said of the song which is the first from a new record, to be released next year.

“I think it’s one of the better songs that I’ve done over the years since I’ve been writing.”

SA’s biggest carols event, the free Elder Park event on December 7 will be hosted by Seven’s Rosanna Mangiarelli, Mark Soderstrom and Amelia Mulcahy, and proudly support SA charity Novita.
