Macquarie Media had until today to trigger the next round of negotiations. If they had failed to, Jones was free to consider other offers.
The Daily Telegraph revealed on Saturday that Jones had been in conversations about other opportunities with rival networks.
Following that story, John Singleton and Kyle Sandilands both spoke out in support of Jones.
Sandilands said a Jones exit from 2GB would be “catastrophic” for the network and Mr Singleton said that if it was up to him, Jones would already be signed.
Jones would not comment last night, nor would Macquarie Media boss Adam Lang.
Mr Lang said “until we conclude arrangements and have something to announce we are unlikely to comment on any negotiations in progress”.
Jones racked up another ratings survey win yesterday, commanding 15.2 per cent share of the market.
It was a slight drop from the previous survey but added to more than 200 ratings wins for Sydney’s top broadcaster.
