Adelaide Thunderbirds’ captain Chelsea Pitman couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle and tie the knot with her love Shayne Harris.
“I just wanted to see ‘Harry’ after the long morning of getting ready,” she said. “So for me, the best part was finally getting to see him at the end of the aisle waiting for me.
“Marrying my best friend was absolutely the best.”
The couple, who met at a Henley Sharks football match last year, exchanged vows at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens on Saturday.
Previously married to rugby league starKevin Locke, Pitman, 31, wore a dress from Adelaide bridal couture house Greta Kate.
“I loved all of her designs before I even met her and once I met her, I knew she would make my wedding dress seem magical,” she said. “It is very feminine, romantic and I went for something that is out of my normal style.”
Harris’s teenage daughter Mia was one of Pitman’s bridesmaids for the day, which included a reception at Chateau Apollo.
“Mia is a very talented, beautiful 15-year-old,” she said. “I am pumped to become a stepmum but feel like the title of stepmum is just weird in itself.”
The veteran wing attack joined the Thunderbirds in 2017 and has also played in the UK, where she represents England on the national stage.
