SUPERMODEL Adut Akech’s remarkable rise continues with the Adelaide teenager named as one of the global fashion industry’s 500 most influential people.
The 18-year old, who came here as a child refugee from Africa, was one of just eight Aussies to make Business of Fashion’s annual power list.
Joining her is Adelaide-born Vogue Australia fashion directorChristine Centenera.
Adut celebrated the news alongside fellow honorees Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Aussie muso Troye Sivan, above,at a gala dinner in New York City.
“Had the best time with these incredible inspiring people who are shaping the fashion business and one of them!!” Adut captioned a photo on Instagram.
Adut, who was chosen by Karl Lagerfeld to be the bride in a Chanel show in July, is described as “one of the industry’s new faces to watch” by Business of Fashion, a world-renowned website.
Now based in New York, she was in Adelaide last month for a Vogue Australia photoshoot to feature in the magazine’s November issue.
