Adelaide entertainment entrepreneur Georgii Speakman has realised her dreams - and now she’s helping others to follow in her footsteps.

The Los Angeles-based musician, actress and businesswoman has launched a new music label called OUT.LI.ER, formed under The Orchard company, which is owned by Sony Music.

“I believe in partnership and am signing projects; not artists. Each deal/situation is unique and depending on where an artist is at in their career,” said Speakmann, who’s been based in LA for six years.

“We are about providing emerging and established acts the opportunity to partner with us, as opposed to sign their life away with major labels.”

Her first order of business has been to sign two local artists, hip hop duoNvsty Militiaand emerging teenage rapper Brianna Bugeja, aka B.Z.A.

Both Adelaide acts have just released new singles, with Nvsty Militia - made up of rising stars Anesu Matanhire and Taffy Dzimano - also having their music featured in a recent South Australian Tourism Commission advertisement.

“They’re both so young with the world at their feet,” said Speakman, who previously helped launch a start-up by US megastar Jay Z’s company, Roc Nation.

“If they were living in LA doing their music; they’d have much bigger audiences by now.”

Speakman isn’t neglecting her own music career, with her latest album Antithesis Vol. 1, which combines piano with hip-hop, also out now.

She hopes her success in the tough US entertainment industry will inspire others to strive for their dreams.

“If I can just encourage a few local talents and give them hope and a professional platform to evolve their presence, and voice that motivates them to think outside of their immediate environment, then that’s all I could hope for,” she said.
