Chris Hemsworth has revealed the way in which Thor director Taika Waititi made him feel at ease while shooting his now infamous naked scenes in the franchise’s latest instalment Thor: Love and Thunder.
“He takes his pants off as well,” Hemsworth joked.
Hemsworth and Waititi bared all (so to speak) in a cheeky interview for Channel 7’s The Morning Show on Tuesday with Berlin cabaret star Hans (aka The Sunday Mail’s Matt Gilbertson) – with buff Hemsworth admitting that he didn’t mind stripping off.
In fact after 11 years of playing the God of Thunder, he’s used to being “objectified”.
“I just cop it,” he said.
Waititi was far more complimentary to the lead star of his action flick.
“It makes me quite uncomfortable the way people objectify you,” Waititi told Hemsworth.
“Do you know what his biggest muscle and his biggest ASSet is? It’s up here,” while pointing to Hemsworth’s head.
Thor: Love And Thunder had its Australian premiere in Sydney on Monday night and the two stars said being reunited with hardcore fans of the Marvel franchise has been the highlight of their press tour, which kicked off last week in Los Angeles.
“I gotta say the LA premiere the other day there was an amazing crowd of fans, everyone dressed up and there were a couple of kids at the start of the red carpet that had better outfits and looked more like Thor than I did,” Hemsworth said with Waititi adding that being able to celebrate the film’s release has been the perfect tonic following the pandemic.
“After two years of not having big premieres like this, everyone was out on the streets with big crowds. It was nice to celebrate going to the movies again after two years of everyone watching movies on their phones,” Waitiki said.
Hemsworth’s return as the title character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film also stars Chris Pratt, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Matt Damon and Melissa McCarthy.
Shot in Sydney last year, Thor: Love And Thunder opens in cinemas on July 6.
