Cult TV footy show The Front Bar will return to South Australia for the second edition of AFL’s Gather Round next month.

Panellists Mick Molloy, Andy Maher and Sam Pang will head back to Adelaide Oval for the live show on April 3, which will open Seven’s coverage of the Festival of Footy in round four.

Local fans can secure tickets to watch the Front Bar’s Oval show by watching the program over the next two Wednesday nights from 8.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Co-host Molloy said he only had one complaint with last year’s Gather Round.

“Can I just say one thing: not enough football. I had nothing to do on Friday afternoon. Surely we can fit 18 games in this time,” he said.

The popular funnyman played a straight bat after he was criticised in SA parliament last year for making a joke about smuggling fruit over the border.

Prior to their Gather Round broadcast, Molloy quipped to The Advertiser: “I love travelling to South Australia. I’ll be bringing fruit over in my boot anyway, so it’s a good excuse to watch some footy as well.”

Upper House MP Frank Pangallo took exception to the comment, saying the state’s border protection policy was “no laughing matter”.

An Advertiser online poll found about 80 per cent of almost 1300 votes backed Molloy, saying he was making a joke.

Adelaide and Melbourne will kick-off this year’s Gather Round with a sellout match at the Oval on Thursday, April 4.

The city stadium will be the centrepiece for the event, which will feature all 18 clubs playing in South Australia from April 4-7.

Norwood Oval and Hills town Mount Barker will also host two matches each.
