THERE’S a lot going on in Hollywood today, so you’d be forgiven for missing a very significant detail about Scarlett Johansson’s outfit at the Oscars.

The Ghost in the Shell actress hit the red carpet in a beautiful pink dress and accessorised with plenty of bling: but no wedding ring.

It all but confirms persistent reports that the 32-year-old and her husband of two years, Romain Dauriac, have broken up.

News of the split began circulating in January, though there’s been some confusion as the pair has since been spotted out and about together.

Earlier this month, Johansson admitted in the March/April issue of Playboy magazine that monogamy is “a lot of work.”

“I don’t think it’s natural to be a monogamous person,” she told the publication. “I might be skewered for that, but I think it’s work. It’s a lot of work. And the fact that it is such work for so many people — for everyone — the fact of that proves that it is not a natural thing. It’s something I have a lot of respect for and have participated in, but I think it definitely goes against some instinct to look beyond.”
