HOLLYWOOD star Susan Sarandon gave the Queen and Prince Philip a surprise after she appeared to introduce herself to the monarch.
The 71-year-old actor greeted the Queen with a curtsy at the Royal Windsor Cup Polo on Sunday and appeared to take her hand, The Sun reports.
The royal couple’s bemused expression afterwards may have been because normal protocol dictates waiting until you are introduced to the Queen rather than doing it yourself.
The Sun Online has approached Buckingham Palace for comment.
The Queen wore a summery ensemble for the Royal Windsor Cup Polo and teamed a peach and green floral dress with a tailored coral jacket over the top, which had pearl buttons.
The cup is one of the top five polo tournaments in the world and attracts the biggest names in the game and their impressive pony power.
Earlier in the month, jockey Frankie Dettori kissed Meghan Markle’s hand — a step not often taken by those meeting the royals.

The Italian had just won his race, and when the royal newlyweds presented the confident jockey with the race trophy, Dettori leaned down and pecked a smiling Meghan on the hand.
Harry looked stony-faced and wagged his finger as the 47-year-old athlete kissed his wife.
Despite Frankie’s nonchalance, he actually didn’t break protocol as “there are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family”, according to royal.uk.
“There are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family, but many people wish to observe the traditional forms,” the royal website states.
“For men this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy. Other people prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way.
“On presentation to The Queen, the correct formal address is ‘Your Majesty’ and subsequently ‘Ma’am,’ pronounced with a short ‘a,’ as in ‘jam’.”
