Sneaky early arrival of first baby for chart topping Australian dance duo
THE newborn son of Sneaky Sound System’s Connie Mitchell and Angus McDonald has made a dramatic entrance into the world.
SNEAKY Sound System partners Connie Mitchell and Angus McDonald’s son has made a sneaky early arrival.
Iggy Ajax McDonald was born in Sydney on Tuesday night, nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.
The pair have been based in Europe since June doing their Sneaky Sundays live shows in Mykonos.
Mitchell flew home from Mykonos earlier this month to prepare for a planned September birth, with a guest singer filling in for the last few performances.
McDonald was still DJing in Mykonos and wasn’t due home until next week. Friends say he got an early flight home just in case Mitchell had an early birth and luckily landed in Sydney as Mitchell was in labour.
After a mad dash from the airport McDonald made it to the hospital with 50 minutes to go before Iggy was born.
Mitchell and McDonald married last September in Ibiza.
It is the first child for Mitchell, while McDonald has another son from a previous relationship.
The child’s middle name is the pair’s tribute to their friend DJ Ajax, aka Adrian Thomas, who died in Melbourne in 2013.
While they’ve been musical partners for over ten years, Mitchell and McDonald’s romantic partnership only blossomed four years ago.
They released a new single, I Ain’t Over You, in April. They’ll play their annual New Year’s Eve show at Icebergs in Sydney, with other musical plans up in the air while they enjoy parenthood.
“I like the idea of having a semi-nomadic lifestyle while our son is still young and before school ties us down,” Mitchell said earlier this month. “We travel a lot, and he’ll obviously be part of that.”
This year marks the tenth anniversary of their multi-platinum debut album which spawned the hits I Love It, Pictures and UFO.
