The singer-songwriter is the only son of The Beatles legend and his late wife Linda, and brother of Heather, 59, Mary, 52, and designer Stella, 50.

He also has a half-sister, Beatrice, who is the daughter of Sir Paul and Heather Mills, who were married from 2002 until 2008.

He initially shunned the limelight, but later followed in his father’s footsteps and began working in the music industry.

James went on to collaborate with Sir Paul, playing guitar on his records Flaming Pie and Driving Rain. He also recorded The Light Comes From Within with his mother before she died of breast cancer in 1998.

His debut single, Available Light was released in 2010, following it up with the album Me in 2013 and another, the Blackberry Train, in 2016.

In 2012, James revealed that he and the other sons of former Beatles members were open to forming a new band, The Beatles: The Next Generation.

“I’d be up for it. Sean (Lennon, son of John Lennon) seemed to be into it, Dhani (Harrison, son of George Harrison) seemed to be into it,” he told the BBC, adding “I’d be happy to do it.”

James also explained that he had turned a corner in his approach to his father’s fame.

“I think it’s great. It’s best for me to embrace it, rather than run away like I used to do,” he said.
