Rolf Harris questioned by Operation Yewtree over two more historic sexual assault claims

AUSSIE entertainer Rolf Harris has been interviewed by police over fresh claims of historic sexual assault, it was today revealed.

ENTERTAINER Rolf Harris has been interviewed by police over fresh claims of historic sexual assault, British police today revealed.

The 84-year-old Harris, who was sentenced last July to five years and nine months for sexual assaulting young girls over a 20-year period, was interviewed by detectives from Operation Yewtree.

Police revealed he was this week twice formally interviewed, under caution, at Stafford police station close to the minimum-security jail for sex offenders where he is serving his time.

“We can confirm officers from Operation Yewtree have interviewed an 84-year-old man under caution in connection with allegations of sexual offences, under the strand of the investigation we have termed ‘others’,” police said in a brief statement which did not name Harris.

“He was interviewed on Tuesday 3 Feb. and Wednesday 4 Feb. at a police station in Stafford. Inquiries continue.”

SEXUAL DEVIANT: Rolf Harris called “Willy Wonka’ in jail

Operation Yewtree began from allegations against British entertainer Jimmy Savile, but was then split into three branches of those that involved Savile, those indirectly affecting him and others whose names emerged during the course of investigations.

Police would not reveal further details about the fresh Harris inquiries.

The Australian-born entertainer was jailed at Bullingdon jail in Oxfordshire but his presence unsettled other inmates who accused him of receiving privileges such as plum prison jobs and hogging the telephones.

He was later moved to Stafford prison where he has reportedly been singing in a choir, handicrafting didgeridoos and sketching caricatures of other inmates.

During his eight week trial, Southwark Crown Court heard there were another six women who made sexual assault claims against the star dating back to the 1970s and 1980s.

He has denied all the charges made against him and was at one stage considering appealing his sentence on the grounds of ill health. He is expected to only serve half his sentence in jail and the other at home.

Former glam rock singer Gary Glitter was today found guilty of carrying out a string of sex attacks on young girls while at the height of his fame including attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.

Celebrity agent Max Clifford and former BBC radio presenter Chris Denning have been jailed following trials brought under Operation Yewtree while former BBC Radio One host Dave Lee Travis was given a suspended sentence after being convicted for indecent assault.
