ALRIGHT stop, collaborate and listen — Ice is back with his brand new conviction...
OK, he hasn’t been convicted yet, but 1990s rapper turned home renovation guru Vanilla Ice was arrested in Lantana, Florida, for allegedly stealing furniture, a pool heater, bikes and other items from an empty home, reports TMZ.
He was charged with burglary and grand theft — his lawyer is reportedly posting a $7000 bail bond.
The incident took place between December and February as the 47-year-old rapper filmed his DIY Network home-renovation show The Vanilla Ice Project at an adjacent residence that is being foreclosed.
Police said they found several of the stolen items at a residence that was “under the care and control” of the ’90s star, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle.
The property was subsequently returned to the owner.
Ice has been in trouble with the law before — he was arrested twice for allegedly assaulting his wife, Laura, in 2001 and 2008. He also pleaded no contest after getting arrested in 1991 for threatening a homeless man with a gun in Los Angeles.
Ice had a worldwide number one smash hit in 1990 with Ice Ice Baby. His album To The Extreme is still one of the biggest-selling hip-hop records of all time.
But his claims to have been born on the mean streets of the ghetto rather than a middle-class family quickly unravelled and subsequent records bombed.
The Ninja Rap theme song from a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie turned him into a laughing stock, and his sophomore album Mind Blowin’ — in which Ice tried to mimic Cypress Hill’s sound and repeatedly rapped about how many drugs he’d taken — pretty much killed off his career.
Ice has spoken before about how he became dependent on drugs and considered suicide, before fatherhood and a stable family life pulled him back from the brink.
He then reinvented himself as a hardcore rap-metal frontman dubbed V.Ice — and a reality TV home renovation handyman.
