Major fight between Prince Harry, Prince William, and King Charles at Prince Philip’s funeral

Prince Harry argued with Prince William and “old man” King Charles in astonishing scenes at Prince Philip’s funeral; Harry also speaks of his final words with the Queen.

Prince Harry has told of a major fight with his father and brother just moments after the funeral of Prince Philip.

The argument erupted after Prince William and the then Prince Charles walked up to Prince Harry “looking for a fight”.

An explosive passage in Prince Harry’s memoir Spare details the angry words that were said between the once close family members.

Prince Harry said he was waiting nervously for them in the gardens of his former home Frogmore Cottage, when the pair approached looking “very serious, almost threatening... conspiring”.

Prince Harry said he thought of his mum, Princess Diana, and thought: “Okay, Mum, here we go – wish me luck.”

After greeting them and getting a “lukewarm” response back, they made small talk before the conversation got heated and ugly.

“My father and Willy had come looking for a fight. Every time I tried to offer a new explanation one of them would interrupt me. Willy, in particular, wouldn’t see sense,” Prince Harry wrote

They began talking over each oter and repeating insults they had flung at each other in previous rows when Charles said “please boys, don’t turn my last years into a torment”.

He described his father’s voice as sounding like “an old man”.

Prince Harry said he couldn’t believe his brother and father still couldn’t understand why he left the UK.

“Honestly no, Harold... not really,” Prince William said to him.

Prince Harry wrote he could see from his father’s expression he didn’t understand either.

“Perhaps they had never really known me,” he wrote.

FINAL WORDS TO THE QUEEN

The Duke of Sussex has told of his last heartbreaking conversation with the Queen where they joked about his baldness and mused over the shambolic state of British politics.

Prince Harry, who affectionately refers to the late Queen Elizabeth II as his “commander-in-chief”, reveals in his memoir Spare the pair discussed the chaos of Downing Street at the time Liz Truss was taking over as Prime Minister from Boris Johnson.

They also chatted on the phone about the Braemar Games, and the “unseasonable drought” in the UK, prompting Prince Harry to liken the dry grass to his head - “bald with patches”.

Writing about the moment the Queen called him to announce his grandfather Prince Philip had died in April 2021, Prince Harry says he woke up to “32 missed calls”.

Recalling the “harrowing” conversation, he says the late monarch told him, “Harry… grandfather has passed away”.

Prince Harry shared a laugh with the Queen during their last conversation.

He also wrote of the words he whispered to the Queen after he arrived at Balmoral, hours after she died.

The prince said he told his late grandmother in a whisper that he “hoped she would be happy” and that she would be with his grandfather.

Harry also writes in the book that he told her he “admired her for having fulfilled her duties until the very end,” referencing her attendance at The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations that summer.

In the days after Prince Philip’s death, Harry paid tribute to the “legend of banter”.

“He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm – and also because you never knew what he might say next.”

In his book released in Spain ahead of publication on January 10, he recalls turning up to Frogmore Gardens in Windsor after Prince Philip’s funeral and in a quiet moment alone reflecting on “how sad” it was that Frogmore Cottage had been his and Meghan’s “home for life” before they left royal duties in early 2020.

He also used his memoir to address rumours he is the product of a relationship between his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, and Major James Hewitt.

He claims his father King Charles once joked, “Who knows if I’m even your real father?”

The startling moment happened when King Charles, who “liked to tell anecdotes”, told a story of a visit to a psychiatric hospital where he met a man claiming to be the Prince of Wales.

According to the book, King Charles wagged his finger at the patient and said “I am the Prince of Wales” only for the man to “respond with the same gesture”.

According to the Duke’s account in the 557-page tell-all, King Charles then quipped, “Who knows if I’m even your real father? Perhaps your father really is in Broadmoor, my dear son”. Prince Harry denounced the joke in “poor taste” given whispers that his real father was red head James Hewitt, to whom Harry bears a resemblance.

Mr Hewitt had a five-year affair with Princess Diana when he was a young Household Cavalry officer from 1986 to 1991.

In his memoirs, the prince says the rumours continued even though Diana did not meet the cavalry officer “until long after I was born”.

He adds that if King Charles thought anything about Major Hewitt he “kept it to himself”.
