A huge cheer went up as the three royals took their seats for the men’s final that saw Novak Djokovic win his seventh Wimbledon title.

The future king, 8, was followed by his beaming mum Kate who wore a stunning blue polka dot dress and smiled ear to ear as she walked out with husband, Prince William.

The Duke of Cambridge was wearing a sand-coloured sports jacket finished off with blue trousers, shirt and tie.

The couple’s other children, Charlotte, seven, and Louis, four, were not in attendance.

The three royals took their seats in the royal box at Centre Court to watch fiery Australian Nick Kyrgios take on Serbia’s cool operator Novak Djokovic.

In an attempt to address the heat and glare William and Kate put on sunglasses against the blazing summer sun, while Prince George opted to go without.

The highly anticipated match started at 2pm GMT (11pm AEST) on Sunday and went for more than three hours.

Other luminaries in attendance for the highly anticipated match were Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

The Top Gun star wore a matching blue suit and tie and smiled and joked with fellow spectators.

Former American World No. 1 tennis player Chris Evert was also in the Royal Box watching the match, wearing a sleeveless summer frock.

Costeen Hatzi, the partner of Nick Kyrgios of Australia watched from the player’s box as Kyrgios embarked on his first Slam final.

Earlier, John McEnroe, former Grand Slam-winning bad boy turned respected TV commentator, praised Kyrgios ahead of the match.

“He’s being professional, I love it. He’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever seen, on and off the court,” the American tennis great told the BBC.

The match was not without some courtside drama as a protester was removed from the stands and Kyrgios demanded that a female spectator who he believed to be drunk and was talking between points be removed from the stands.

But Prince George, while he did not make lots of faces like his little brother Prince Louis, could be seen to be complaining of the heat.

Still dressed in a dark suit and tie in the hot weather, both his mum and dad checked his temperature during the match.

According to The Sun, Prince George could be heard complaining of the heat when he arrived at Wimbledon.

While Prince George has been on his absolute best behaviour the entire match, he was filmed giving his mum and dad a quick hug in the reception area.

As chairman Ian Hewitt led them to their seats, Prince William asked his son if their journey across South London was “OK”.

George quietly told his dad: “[It’s] too hot.”

Expressing concern, William then replied: “Oh you’re hot, are you?

“It’s very warm today [...] It’ll be fine.”

Kate then said: “You have to feel for the people sitting in the bright sunshine.

“We’re quite often sitting in the shade.”

On Twitter, royal fans expressed sympathy for Prince George sitting in a suit while temperatures in London soared to 28C.

One said: “Poor Prince George wearing a suit to Centre Court on a hot day.”

Another added: “Prince George looks very smart but could he not have been dressed more casually as it’s so hot?!”

A third wrote: “Is Prince George not overheating in that cute little suit?”

However, others said it was lovely to see the future King so dressed up for the royal box.

A fourth said: “Yes, it’s hot for Prince George, but I like people smartly dressed!”

“The suit is a uniform, like a school uniform or a military uniform - when you wear it you behave in a certain way,” a fifth wrote.

“Prince George knows he is on royal duty today.”

As he starts to appear at public events in a royal capacity, the Duchess is reportedly the one who insists on George wearing a suit - like he has at the Wimbledon final today.

The Duchess of Cambridge shook hands with Kyrgios following his defeat to Djokovic and presented him with the runner up trophy, before presenting the winning trophy to Djokovic.

Shortly after having his name added to the honour board in the All England Club, Djokovich was spotted shaking hands with Prince William, while Prince George held the Men’s Singles trophy briefly while Djokovich chatted to William before George said to his mum, “It’s a bit heavy!” and handed the trophy over to her and she handed it back to Djokovich.
