While the Oscars tend to be the most conservative of all the awards ceremonies, Wilde wasn’t afraid to show a bit of skin with her plunging neckline revealing plenty of cleavage.

The strips of fabric which covered her chest were compared to “bandaids,” and showed off a fair amount of side boob.

The dress was part of the Valentino Spring 2016 collection.

Olivia Wilde might look back and regret this look.

Normally a favourite on the red carpet, her couture Maison Valentino gown was called everything from “hideous” to “a mistake” by critics on Twitter.

While the dress may not have been to everyone’s taste, it was certainly on trend, coming straight off the runway at the Valentino Spring 2016 show held just a month ago.

Wilde, who walked the ruby rug with her partner Jason Sudeikis, is the co-executive producer of Body Team 12, which is up for the award for Best Documentary (Short Subject).
