Former Def Jam Recordings executive Drew Dixon told The New York Times she was subjected to “prolonged and aggressive sexual harassment” by Simmons while working at the record label.
According to the The New York Times, on work calls, he would talk graphically about how she aroused him, asked her to sit on his lap during a staff meeting, and regularly exposed his erect penis to her.
In 1995, she claimed, Simmons raped her in his Manhattan apartment. She quit soon afterwards, telling The New York Times she was “broken”.
Lawyer Tina Baker, who was a back-up singer for Madonna in the early 1990s, claimed her then manager Simmons raped her after inviting her back to his place to “discuss her career”.
“I did nothing, I shut my eyes and waited for it to end,” she told The New York Times, adding that she was so distraught she didn’t sing for a year afterwards.
Music journalist Toni Sallie shared a similar story after she went to interview the powerful entertainment mogul in the late 1980s.
She claims he invited her back to his apartment for a party but when she arrived, it was just the two of them. Sallie says Simmons forced himself on her and raped her.
In a statement to The New York Times, Simmons, 60, said: “I vehemently deny all these allegations. These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual.”
He added: “The current allegations sent to me by The New York Times range from the patently untrue to the frivolous and hurtful. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty must not be replaced by “Guilty by Accusation.”
The mogul dated Aussie star Melissa George for a year from 2011 before they split, which Simmons blamed on “the difficulty of long-distance relationships”.
Last month, Simmons announced that he was stepping down from the companies under his Rush Communications Inc. including Def Digital, Def Pictures and yoga business Tantris after Rachel Getting Married screenwriter Jenny Lumet penned a column in The Hollywood Reporter claiming Simmons assaulted her in 1991.
