Today host Karl Stefanovic announced the news during a live cross from Paris.

Stefanovic said the report came from a “very close source” and that Kyly and the baby were healthy and well.

Michael and Kyly are yet to confirm the news.

“So I do have some very good news to report that has just come through to me,” Stefanovic read on air.

“On a completely different subject — it is breaking news of the very best kind — and I can report to you all back in Australia that from a very good source, that former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke and his beautiful wife Kyly have just had a baby girl.

“Now she is five weeks premature but she’s in good health and mum is also in good health.”

In October Michael and Kyly said they were hoping for an early Christmas present, as their girl was due the last week of December.

When Confidential asked the pair whether they were concerned about the fact it’s highly likely Clarke could miss the birth, Kyly said at the time: “Yes we are!” before Micahel added: “We’re hoping Santa Claus ­delivers our baby before I get on that boat on the 26th.

“She is due late December. We have our fingers crossed.”

Santa certainly delivered.

Last month, Michael told Telegraph Sport: “When me and my wife fell pregnant we weren’t worried if it was going to be a boy or a girl. The only thing that mattered is that it’d be healthy.”

“I just pray that our baby is healthy.”

Kyly announced her baby news on social media in July. The couple, who have been married for three years, made the announcement on Instagram.

“Kyly Clarke and I are extremely ecstatic to announce that we are expecting our first child,” Michael wrote at the time.
