Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were snubbed from Barack Obama’s A-list birthday party

It was the star-studded party attended by Hollywood stars including Beyonce and Jay-Z. But Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were absent from the guest list. This is why.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were notable omissions from the guest list at a star-studded birthday party for Barack Obama, it has emerged.

The Sun reports that the former US President and his wife Michelle Obama may not be fans of Harry and Meghan’s royal family drama, an expert has claimed.

In what many have perceived as an A-list snub, neither the Duke nor Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at Barack’s 60th birthday party.

Guests at the Obamas’ multimillion Massachusetts mansion included Jay-Z, Beyonce, Tom Hanks, Stephen Spielberg and George Clooney – so the Sussexes no show sparked interest.

Although it is unclear whether Harry and Meghan weren’t invited or simply didn’t want to attend, royal expert Camilla Tominey suggested the Obamas may not be keen on the Sussexes relentless attacks on their families.

She wrote in the Telegraph that Meghan and Harry’s recent sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey may have isolated the couple

“It arguably will not have gone down particularly well with a couple that have always put ‘family first’ to see Harry and Meghan being so openly critical of their Royal relatives during their Oprah interview,” she said, according to The Sun.

MEGHAN’S SNUB

Meghan Markle reportedly received a bunch of roses from her dad, Thomas, on her 40th birthday last week, but the gesture did little to thaw relations between the Duchess of Sussex and her estranged father.

Thomas Markle told entertainment website, TMZ, that he sent his famous daughter a bouquet of flowers and a card, on which he wrote, “Wishing you a happy birthday and brighter days.”

He told TMZ that the bouquet featured a dozen red roses with two yellow roses in the middle, signifying Meghan and Prince Harry’s two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Mr Markle reportedly told the website he specifically wanted to incorporate his grandchildren, in Meghan’s birthday flower arrangement because he still wants to be a part of their lives and that he feels they don’t have enough “family” around them in California.

Mr Markle told TMZ he hasn’t heard from his daughter since he sent the gift.

He reportedly said “that’s fine” and he’s just “hoping she likes the flowers”.

Mr Markle’s strained relationship with his daughter came to a head in 2018 just before the couple’s wedding when it was revealed he staged photos for the press and leaked a personal letter from her to media outlets.

He then pulled out of walking Meghan down the aisle at the ceremony after suffering a heart attack, with Prince Charles taking his place.

Meghan — who now lives in the celebrity enclave of Montecito in California (Oprah Winfrey is a neighbour) with Prince Harry and their kids after quitting the royal family — opened up about her relationship with her father to Winfrey in March, saying that she couldn’t forgive his “betrayal.”

“I look at Archie, I think about this child and I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child,” she said. “I can’t imagine it, so it’s hard for me to reconcile that.”

Last month, Mr Markle told Fox News he was planning to file a petition with the California courts to try and see his grandchildren.

Mr Markle has said his health continues to detirorate and he’s concerned that he might never meet his grandchildren despite living just 100 kilometres away from them.

Speaking to Fox News from his home in Rosarito, Mexico, he said: “We shouldn’t be punishing [Lili] for Meghan and Harry’s bad behaviour.

“Archie and Lili are small children. They’re not politics. They’re not pawns. They’re not part of the game. And they’re also royal and entitled to the same rights as any other royal,” he said.

“I will be petitioning the California courts for the rights to see my grandchildren in the very near future,” he added.

Meghan, meanwhile, also received birthday wishes from the royal family despite allegedly being on bad terms since the couple’s bombshell interview with Winfrey earlier this year.

It was reported that the couple was having a “low-key” celebration this year.
