Prince William “made a conscious decision” to put duty ahead of family after Megxit, the former private secretary to the royal and Prince Harry claims.
Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who was appointed to the job in 2015, said he believes Prince William will always put the future of the Firm ahead of his relationship with his younger brother.
“He has made a conscious decision that duty comes first,” Mr Lowther-Pinkerton says in an upcoming documentary, The Real Windsors: A Very Modern Prince?.
Mr Lowther-Pinkerton, who is Prince George’s godfather, continued: “Prince William is very analytical and asks all the questions and makes sure that he’s clear what you’re asking him to do.
“His sort of moral compass is set absolutely rigidly due north. He has the clearest understanding of almost anybody I know of what is right and what is wrong and he won’t waiver from it, even if it means he’s going to take a hit.
“There are many examples of when I worked for him where it would have been very easy to take one route but it wouldn’t have been the honourable or the right thing to do so he took the more difficult route.”
Mr Lowther-Pinkerton believes the monarchy will be in safe hands when he succeeds, citing the Queen as his role model.
“He’s inevitably drawn a lot from the example that she’s given over the years,” he said.
“He’s got some great role models there. In a way, he’s lucky because he sits at the bottom of the pile in terms of the generational way of looking at it. And he can sort of look at those generations and draw on them.
“The monarchy has always changed, it’s always evolved — each generation will do things slightly differently, there’ll be lots of common themes. That’s why it’s an evolution not a revolution.”
MEGHAN HOLDING GRUDGE AGAINST KATY PERRY
Meghan Markle is reportedly still not happy with Katy Perry over a comment the American pop star made in the wake of the Sussexes’ 2018 wedding, making things awkward in the California celebrity enclave of Montecito where the Sussexes are neighbours of Perry and her fiance, British actor Orlando Bloom.
The trouble started in 2018 when Perry had said she “would have done one more fitting” when asked about Meghan’s wedding during an interview on Entertainment Tonight just after the royal wedding.
“I’m never not going to tell the truth! One more fitting,” Perry said, “but I love you. Kate, Kate, Kate won, Kate won!”
Awkward, but she went on to add, “I’m so happy for them, and, you know, I don’t know them from Adam, but it’s amazing what she’s doing with all this, her humanitarian efforts. You know, the fact that she’s a proud feminist, I love all that. I support her as another woman and love her and wish them both well.”
Prince Harry is reported to have struck up a friendship with Bloom.
Indeed, Markle is reportedly “notorious for holding a grudge” and but things have been complicated by Prince Harry’s burgeoning friendship with Bloom.
The Express in the UK reported that a source said: “Orlando is very sympathetic towards Harry and Meghan and does reach out if he ever sees anything suspicious in the neighbourhood.”
They added: “However, Meghan is keenly aware of a comment that Katy Perry made in 2018 about her wedding dress and is notorious for holding a grudge.”
Meghan is said to have felt annoyed by the remark as it came during a time of immense pressure for the Sussex couple in the build-up to their bombshell exit from the royal family.
“While the comment wasn’t meant to be hurtful, Meghan felt under siege at that time and was overwhelmed by arguments with staff, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Thomas Markle,” a source told The Express.
Meghan and Perry are both mothers to one-year-old girls but the insider was quick to say there would not be a playdate anytime soon.
“I would not expect to see Meghan and Katy carpooling to PTA meetings anytime in the future!”
