In a rare royal sighting, King Charles has been spotted with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle behind palace doors.
The sombre photo captures Harry, 37, and Meghan, 41, walking hand-in-hand a few steps behind the new monarch at Buckingham Palace, making it the first time the trio have been photographed together in several years. It also marks the first time they’ve all been seen together since the Queen’s death last Thursday.
Charles, 73, hosted an intimate gathering at the Queen’s London residence overnight to receive the coffin, where the newly minted Prince and Princess of Wales were also in attendance.

It’s the first time Charles, Harry and Meghan have been pictured in the same space in years.
There have, however, been private reunions behind closed doors.
Charles met Harry and Meghan’s second child Lilibet Diana, 1, for the first time in June this year, when the Sussexes were in London for the Queen’s platinum jubilee. At the same time he also saw three-year-old Archie for the first time in two years.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have publicly spoken out against the royals since they moved to the US, making particularly strong comments about Harry’s estrangement from Charles.
In the couple’s bombshell televised interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Harry claimed Charles cut him off financially, and that the new monarch stopped taking his phone calls.
“There is a lot to work through there,” Harry said about his relationship with his father.
“I feel really let down. He’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. And Archie is his grandson. I will always love him, but there is a lot of hurt that has happened.”
Harry also acknowledged that he does not have a close relationship with his brother William, 40.
And it doesn’t appear that those tensions have subsided.
Prior to news of the Queen’s death on September 8, Harry and Meghan were in the middle of a seven-day tour of Europe for various charity obligations.
It was reported Charles had extended an open invitation to the duo to stay with him in Scotland, but the invitation was declined.
“The Prince of Wales reiterated his invitation for Harry and Meghan, and the whole family if they wished, to come and stay with him this summer while he is at his home on the Balmoral estate,” a source said.
“He thought it might be a good opportunity for everyone to take stock and relax, but the invitation was declined.”
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan reunited with William and Kate Middleton for the first time in more than two years for a walkabout in Windsor on Sunday.
While the show of unity from the “fab four“ to pay their respects to the Queen was widely celebrated, it’s clear there were tensions among the group.
Royal commentators noted how Meghan looked “uncomfortable” and didn’t have any communication with Kate.
Elsewhere, William and Harry also didn’t appear to acknowledge each other during the outing.
