THE ex-Gossip Girl star went through something a mother should never have to go through in December last year.
Despite this, Kelly Rutherford — whose ex-husband, Daniel Giersch, gained full custody of their kids, Hermes and Helena, last year after a protracted custody battle — was upbeat at the New Yorkers for Children Annual Fall Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street on Thursday.
“My kids are great; they are doing really well,” she told us of her son and daughter, who are living in Monaco and France. “I see them all the time. I was there eight weeks this summer ... It was amazing.”
Other guests at the event, which raised more than $1.3 million for foster children, included Frédéric Fekkai and wife Shirin von Wulffen, Alina Cho, Sara and Nathaniel Zilkha, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, Jamie Tisch and John Demsey.
Also at the bash were Stephen and Christine Schwarzman, Dree Hemingway, Indré Rockefeller, Nick Loeb, Kevin Liles and R & B artist Trey Songz.
Walgreens Chief Diversity Officer Steve Pemberton, a former foster kid himself, said to the young honorees, “I know the voids that are left in you ... but with love and care and support, those voids can shrink.” Musician Cobi performed.
