KATIE Price has defended her choice to have her youngest daughter’s ears pierced.
The mum-of-five, who was subject to a wave of backlash after she shared a photo of her daughter Bunny on Instagram over the weekend, has compared her decision to parents who choose to have their child circumcised at a young age.
During her appearance on British chat show Loose Women, Katie fired back at critics and questioned why other celebrities haven’t gotten a similar backlash.
She told the panel: “I’m not going to sit here and justify myself she looks really cute. Why is it when I do something I get criticised.
“Mariah Carey posted it, Kim Kardashian got a bit of stick, Angelina Jolie ... Why is it always me? What about kids who get circumcised?”
When panellist Ruth Langsford explained that circumcision was done for religious reasons, Katie suggested the same could be said for Bunny.
“Mine is. Kieran [Hayler, her husband]’s half Spanish and it’s their tradition. You said you were half Catholic, they get their ears pierced.”
She went on to add that her ex, Aussie singer Peter Andre, has banned her from getting eight-year-old daughter Princess’ ears done:
“I’ve got two kids, Princess really wants her ears pierced, because me and Pete split up we asked him and he said ‘I’d rather she didn’t’ so I would only want to do it if he agreed to.”
This isn’t the first time Katie has been forced to defend herself when it comes to her children.
She came under fire recently for allowing her Princess to pose for photos wearing a full-face of makeup.
However, she was later forced to admit her mistake after claiming that she has been completely oblivious to the paedophile threat.
“So many people said to me ‘Oh my god Katie, think about paedophiles. And I thought ‘Oh yeah, you’re right’. When you say it, I can see it.”
