KATE Upton decided to share some pretty big news with fans at the Met Gala — via a giant rock on her finger.
The supermodel announced her engagement to professional baseball player Justin Verlander, flashing the impressive bling on the red carpet in New York City on Monday night.
“He asked me right before the season started, so we’ve been keeping it on the down low for quite a while, so I’m excited to finally be able to share it with the world,” the 23-year-old told E! News at the A-list event.
Upton and the 33-year-old Detroit Tigers pitcher have been dating for three years, he designed the enormous sparkler himself.
The Other Woman actress joked to E! News back in March that three years as a couple “seems like forever in Hollywood, right?”
She added: “We’re very open with one another and we’re each others best friends. He’s definitely my best friend, so I think that helps a lot.”
As for a date for the nuptials, Upton says they’re simply “enjoying the engagement period.”
