Surf’s up! Two-time Oscar nominee Jonah Hill was spotted riding the waves on a beach in Malibu, California, this week.

In a slew of new photos, the Superbad actor was spotted wearing a tight, black wetsuit and sporting a long bushy beard.

Hill, 39, is part of a group called Surf Jews California which he created “just for fun” with filmmaker Spike Jonze and Beastie Boys member Mike Diamond, according to a GQinterview in 2021.

In a now-deleted Instagram post from 2019, Hill revealed that surfing had always been a secret dream of his. The actor took a hiatus from being in the spotlight due to mental health concerns and deleted his Instagram account in 2022.

“Been terrified to surf my whole life,” wrote Hill. “Totally random fear and at the same time always been a secret dream of mine. Turned out to be one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had.”

The This Is the End actor has remained largely out of the spotlight these last few years after revealing in a Netflix documentary that he suffers from anxiety attacks and struggles with his fluctuating weight.

“I always had an interest in personal style and fashion, but I was always a bigger guy,” the actor said in an interview with GQ. “It’s really hard when you’re overweight to dress a certain way because clothes aren’t made for people who are overweight to have style.

“Even now, I’ll overhear someone discussing my place in the fashion world or whatever, and people are like, ‘That guy? The schlubby guy from Superbad.”

Hill, before deleting his social media, asked his fans to kindly stop commenting on his weight.

“I know you mean well but I kindly ask that you not comment on my body,” he wrote on Instagram. “Good or bad, I want to politely let you know it’s not helpful and doesn’t feel good. Much respect.”

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star was thrust back into the spotlight recently when disgraced rapper Kanye West said that Hill was the reason he “started liking Jewish people again”.

It was also revealed that Hill’s current girlfriend, and rumoured fiancée, Olivia Millar, is pregnant with the couple’s first child. The mum-to-be was spotted in Santa Monica wearing a black sweater and overalls that displayed the baby bump as well as sporting a sparkling rock on her finger.

Hill may not be on social media, but fans will be able to catch him as the late Jerry Garcia in a Martin Scorsese-directed biopic about the Grateful Dead on Apple TV+.

He’s also reportedly set to direct a film called Outcome starring Keanu Reeves.
