HE VOWED to never have kids, but a year after splitting from his wife of 18 years, Guy Pearce has welcomed a baby boy with his girlfriend.

GUY Pearce and his girlfriend Carice van Houten have become parents.

The 48-year-old Australian actor announced their happy news on Twitter, writing: “A cute little package arrived and told us his name’s Monte Pearce. We think we’re gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie anyone?”

Pearce started dating Carice van Houten, who plays the Red Woman in Game of Thrones, last year after splitting from his wife of 18 years.

The former Neighbours star had previously stated in several interviews that he had no desire to ever have children.

“There are enough babies in the world,” he said to The Guardian in 2007, “Besides, I don’t think I would be good for babies”.

In 2011 he told The Independent: “I believe you need to have a level of emotional consistency when you raise a child and I don’t know that I have that. It would be unfair to inflict that on a child.”
